On Saturday, July 15th, 14 family members were near the Cold Springs swimming hole in Payson, Arizona. An intense thunderstorm and a flash flood quickly struck the area with 6-foot floodwaters mixed with trees and other debris.
The flooding swept up the family killing 9 of them. The victims have not been identified, however police have said that 6 children ranging in age from 2 to 13 were killed. The oldest victim was in their late 60's.
4 family members were rescued on Saturday afternoon and were taken to the hospital and treated for hypothermia. But 1 family member is still missing. The search will resume this morning, Monday, July 17th.
