Two suicide bombers in trucks targeted an Afghan military base in the southern province of Kandahar. At least 43 Afghan soldiers have been killed and 9 are wounded. Six others are still missing. A defense ministry spokesman reported that everything has been burnt down, and nothing is left inside the camp.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for this attack. This is the 4th major attack on Afghan territory this week. Just a few days earlier, Taliban suicide bombers and gunman stormed a police training centre in Gardez, and killed at least 41 people. These attacks are part of their attempt to impose strict Islamic law in the country.
