Arkansas Executions

An Arkansas federal judge has halted the execution of 9 inmates who argue that lethal injection is unconstitutional, since it has a risk of severe pain.

Now, a court will have to decide whether or not they believe this method of execution is ‘cruel and unusual punishment.’

Arkansas had planned to execute 8 of the 9 inmates before their supply of lethal injection drugs ran out at the end of April. Whichever side loses the appeal, they will likely take their case before the U.S. Supreme Court.
