Boys get job to avoid joining gang

It’s not uncommon to hear of young people picking up summer jobs for some extra cash. But 4 teenagers from Georgia went looking for work with a different reason in mind.

Dylik Smith and Jalen Parham who are 13-years-old, and 14-year-old twin brothers Desmond and Deion Woodard, have been trying to get jobs since school let out in May. All 4 boys live in LaGrange Housing Authority and finally scored an interview with the CEO, Zsa Zsa Heard.

Heard asked the boys why they were interested in working over the summer. Their response was surprising. They admitted each of them had been approached to join gangs, and they wanted to keep busy and stay out of trouble.

Heard was moved by their response and hired them on the spot! They now work for their own community getting paid $7.25 an hour! They have been doing everything from passing out flyers, cleaning chicken coops, and working in the gardens.

After hiring the 4 boys, Heard made a Facebook post praising the young men and encouraging Facebook users to empower them for their good choices! The post has since gone viral!
