Celebrating St. Patty's Day
Favorite

re you wearing green today?

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Maybe you’re 1% Irish, or 100%, but did you know that mostly everyone “claims” to be Irish on St. Patrick's Day? This may just be an excuse to drink more than normal!

Statistics show that sales of Guinness stout rise from nearly 5.5 million pints worldwide- on normal days, to about 11 million on St. Patrick's Day.

In 1737, the first St. Patrick's Day celebration in America took place in Boston. St. Patrick's Day is always celebrated on March 17th. Irish natives celebrate the Feast of St. Patrick, and the holiday was a way to honor their heritage, while embracing their new homeland.

Often, the holiday is accompanied by parades, food, and a little bit of partying.

There are about 34.7 million Americans with Irish ancestry, which is seven times the population of Ireland!

If you are looking to celebrate properly, eat traditional Irish food such as bacon, cabbage, and enjoy a nice cold Irish beer!

For those of you not wearing green today, watch out! People may pinch you, or you may not find that pot of gold you were looking for at the end of the rainbow.

Be safe, and have a very happy St. Patty’s day from us at DTV News!
