On Monday, Dan Johnson, a Republican House representative from Kentucky, was accused of molesting a 17-year-old after a New Year’s Eve party. According to the victim, he was drunk at the time. Upon hearing the allegations, many Republican congressmen urged Johnson to resign. He announced that the allegations are false and that he would not resign.
Yesterday, Johnson had posted something on Facebook that caused one person to call the police. The police looked for Johnson and found him by his car near a bridge. He was dead and with a single gunshot wound to the head. A gun was found by his body. The police have officially ruled his death a suicide.
A special election to replace Johnson will likely be held in February 2018.
