Over the weekend, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck on the border region between Iran and Iraq, killing between 300-400 people and injuring thousands of others. Tremors from the earthquake were able to be felt in Turkey, Israel and Kuwait.
Most people who died were in Iran's western Kermanshah province. Within this province, the city Sarpol-e Zahab experienced the worst damage. About 85,000 people live in this city, and several tall buildings have completely collapsed. Residents were forced to spend the night outside in freezing conditions. Rescuers are currently searching for survivors.
