Deaf Engineer Gets Job With NASA

Did you know that there is a deaf woman who is an employee of NASA? Yes, that’s right! That person is Johanna Lucht. She is the first deaf engineer to play a role in a NASA control center during a mission!

Her job at NASA is to observe and evaluate data connected to the aircraft’s GPS and Navigation systems. She successfully interacts with her co-workers through an ASL interpreter. She gave some advice by telling people who find things challenging to keep an open mind for opportunities and allow yourself to do what you love to do.

How inspiring, Johanna! Thank you for showing that deaf people can do anything.
