FBI Raids Ex-Trump Campaign Adviser’s Home

Today, August 9th, it was announced that the FBI raided Paul Manafort’s home in Alexandria, Virginia on July 26th. Paul Manafort was President Trump’s Ex-Campaign Adviser before he resigned last August. The FBI used a search warrant to seize documents and other materials including tax documents and foreign banking records. The man leading the investigation is Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

The investigation is related to Russia’s involvement in the Presidential election, and more specifically, a meeting that Donald Trump Jr. attended with Manafort and a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower back in June 2016. Mueller wants all information, notes, and documents related to these investigations.

Manafort already followed the grand jury subpoena to release all his documents related to the Russian investigation. He seems to be cooperating with the investigation so far. He provided about 400 documents to both the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate and House intelligence committees, but Mueller doesn’t seem to be satisfied with what Manafort has provided so far.

Why is Manafort being suspected? He used to work for rich pro-Russia Ukrainian politicians and a wealthy Russian who was a friend of Vladimir Putin. Due to his work for other countries, he should have registered as a foreign agent which he did not.

Many people, including those who work for the government, are tired of hearing about Trump and Russia, but things keep coming up related to Russia that makes Robert Mueller suspicious.
