First EMS Course Given in Sign Language in Israel

Nechama Loebel, the first deaf EMT in Israel, recently organized and instructed the first sign language EMS course in Israel.

Loebel graduated from a Psychotrauma and Crisis Response course before creating her program and is also certified to teach basic CPR and EMS courses.

The course was held at the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community clubhouse in Ashdod, Israel.

According to Loebel, it is her dream to make this “life saving information” accessible to the other members of the deaf and hard of hearing community in Israel and to “pay it forward.”

Participants learned how to treat minor injuries such as burns, light wounds, and broken bones. They also learned how to treat choking, as well as how to properly use CPR.

Keep up the great work, Nechama!
