Food Trends Predicted for 2017

2016 was full of fun food trends. 2017 is not expected to be any different. How does black garlic puree sound? What about purple asparagus? Well, 2017 may be your lucky year to try a few of these dishes out.

On Tuesday, December 13, Whole Foods unleashed their predictions for what the 2017 food trends would look like. According to the enormous food store, “purple everything” is the top trend. We’re talking about purple cauliflower, purple sweet potatoes, purple asparagus, purple corn and more.

Whole Foods is also predicting that the coconut will be very popular. Did you know that a coconut is a fruit, a nut, and a seed? There are a lot of possibilities for this super food, and many believe that it may be used to make “sugar, beauty products” and could even be “found in flours, tortillas, chips, ice creams, butters, and more.”

Creative condiments like black sesame tahini and habanero jam are also expected to be popular in the new year. Also, fun alternative pastas made of grains like quinoa, lentils and chickpeas are said to be popular in 2017.
