Filmmaker, George Lucas, has a great surprise in store. Lucas searched for many months, but finally found the perfect place to open a $1 billion dollar art museum. Lucas signed a deal with the city of Los Angeles.
San Francisco and Chicago were the other two cities that did not make the cut.
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art will feature pieces from Lucas' personal art collection, and work by traditional and modern artists. Art from the famous cartoonist, Robert Crumb, will be featured as well.
The museum plans to exhibit movie matte paintings, props, and memorabilia from Star Wars and other films.
The new building is designed by Chinese architect Ma Yansong. It will include theaters, a giant drop-in library, digital classrooms, lecture halls, a museum store, and restaurants. Wow!
On May 4th, 2020, the museum is set to open, and fans are more than excited.
