immigration phone scam

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is warning against scam artists claiming to work for U.S. Immigration. Scam artists are calling people and stealing their personal information to commit identity theft.

The thieves are using a techniques called “spoofing,” which makes the caller ID reflect DHS’s phone number. If you receive a call from 1-800-323-8603, don’t answer it!

If you do answer it, never give out your personal information over the phone, regardless of who they claim to be. DHS will never require you to provide personal information over the phone.
