Macron Elected as French President

Centrist party candidate Emmanuel Macron won the French presidential election on Sunday, May 7th.

65% of French citizens voted for Macron. President Trump favored Marine Le Pen, the far right candidate, however Le Pen did call Macron to concede. Trump did the same, stating that he looked forward to working with the new President elect.

During Trump’s presidency, the administration has been openly skeptical of climate change. Macron went viral on social media in February, saying that climate scientists and researchers in America are welcome to collaborate with European and French researchers.

Macron will be sworn in on Sunday, May 14th.
