How many of you use emojis in your texts and social media messages on a regular basis? How many of you identify as women? Regardless of how you identify, you can expect to see more variety in your emojis.
On Thursday, July 14th, The Unicode Consortium made an announcement saying that eleven female emojis of different professions will be added to the list of emoji options. These new emojis include a coder, farmer, mechanic, musician, chef, welder, scientist, graduate, lawyer, doctor, and teacher. Not only will the new emojis be added, but 33 of the existing emojis will now have a female counterpart. Some of these include the getting a haircut emoji, a surfer, cop, detective, and swimmer. These new emojis will also come in a variety of skintones.
The Unicode Consortium hopes that these will help better represent all women who actively use emojis in their messages.
