On Tuesday, March 7, Nike announced that the company’s spring 2018 line will have a new, special product: The Nike Pro Hijab. This is Nike’s first ever high-performance headgear for female Muslim athletes.
In a statement released by the organization, Nike said that the Nike Pro Hijab has been in the making for over a year. Zahra Lari, a figure skater from the United Arab Emirates, is part of Nike’s advertising campaign and has been testing the Hijabs for more than a year as well.
The lightweight, durable fabric of the hijab can handle Lari’s fast spins and powerful jumps.
The hijab is expected to cost about $35. This new product will broaden Nike’s customer base, and will give every woman an equal chance to perform to the best of their ability. What do you think about this new announcement?
