On Saturday, April 29th, police officers responded to a party with underage drinking. 15-year-old Jordan Edwards was driving away from the scene when a police officer shot him in the head and killed him.
The initial report said Edwards’ car was aggressively moving toward the police officer. However, video footage revealed his car was in fact moving away from the officers. Balch Springs Police Chief Jonathan Haber, says he originally misspoke, and that the officer’s behavior “did not meet their core values.”
The officer who shot Edwards has been placed on administrative leave, but has not been charged or arrested. A criminal investigation is currently underway.
