At least ten children and dozens of others have been killed from a gas attack in Syria. Over 200 have been reported injured.
On Tuesday, April 4th, at 6:30 a.m., airstrikes hit Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib province. The strike released a poisonous gas, causing asphyxiation. Three more strikes hit minutes later, but no more gas was released.
Victims were being treated at a hospital that was hit by another airstrike a few hours later. No deaths were reported. Doctors are now trying to transport all injured patients to Turkey.
Activists described this attack as one of the worst in Syria during a six year civil war. The last major gas attack was in 2013 in the Damascus suburb of Ghouta, which resulted in hundreds of casualties.
