Ever since Target announced their alliance with their transgender customers, allowing them to use whatever bathroom matched their gender, disagreeing customers have chosen to boycott the store.
In an attempt to satisfy all of their customers, the store announced that they would be spending $20 million to expand their bathrooms. This way, every customer would be able to go to a bathroom they felt comfortable using. There will be men and women’s bathrooms, and the third set of bathrooms will be a single stall with a lock on the door for extra privacy. Not all customers are satisfied with the new plan, but Target has no plans to back down.
Out of 1,800 Target stores, 1,400 currently have single stall bathrooms. 25 more stores should have them installed by the end of the year, and the rest will be installed in 2017.
