If you haven’t filed your taxes yet, you’re in luck! Tax day is typically April 15th, but this year, it’s postponed until Tuesday, April 18th.
When tax day falls on a Saturday, it gets postponed until Monday. But this year, Monday is Emancipation Day, a legal holiday in the District of Columbia. This is the day President Lincoln signed the Compensated Emancipation Act in 1862, which freed over 3,000 slaves.
Because of this, Tax Day is postponing even further until Tuesday.
