The Sweet Benefits of Dark Chocolate

Do you have a sweet tooth?


Well, it may come as a surprise to you, but high quality dark chocolate is proven to have plenty of health benefits.


“Healthy chocolate,” which is dark chocolate, with a high cocoa content of 70 percent or more- is filled with healthy nutrients.


Dark chocolate contains numerous amounts of minerals, and is actually a good source of soluble fibers. Unfortunately, if you are watching your weight, this may not be the best solution for you.


In order to get all of the healthy fibers and minerals, a person would need to consume a 100 gram bar of dark chocolate, which contains around 600 calories. It is not advised to eat a large bar every day.


Other benefits of dark chocolate include: a high content of antioxidants, reducing blood pressure and improving circulation, and can reduce the risk of heart disease.


That’s right, in 2006, a study suggested that dark chocolate can lead to significant improvements in heart health. The data gathered that consuming cocoa reduced the incidence of heart related death by as much as 50%.
