Donald Trump’s transition team has announced that Kellyanne Conway is being appointed ‘counselor to the president’.
Originally the Trump administration wanted Conway to become the White House press secretary, but she declined that position.
Conway took over as Trump’s campaign manager in August. Conway is the first female campaign manager to win a presidential general election. She is now going to be the highest-ranking woman in Trump’s White House.
In a statement, president-elect Trump explained that she will act as a “close adviser,” responsible for helping to carry out his priorities and deliver his message from inside the White House.
Conway released a statement that she’s humbled and honored to take on this new role.
