News Update- Days after firing FBI Director James Comey, President Trump took to Twitter to express his thoughts about the situation. He posted a tweet on Friday, May 12 saying, “James Comey better hope there are no “tapes” of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!” This suggests that his conversations with Comey may have been recorded.
Comey was asked to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee next week, but has not responded.
This is happening at the same time as the FBI is currently investigating Trump’s association with Russia. People have compared this to Richard Nixon’s infamous Watergate scandal.
Trump claimed that this is happening just because the Democrats are mad about losing the election. Trump also warned the media that he might cancel all future White House briefings and just hand out written responses for “accuracy.”
