On Monday, ESPN anchor Jemele Hill went on a Twitter tirade calling President Trump a “white supremacist” and a “bigot”.
The tweets are receiving a lot of backlash from the community. ESPN called her tweet “inappropriate”, but didn’t say whether or not the anchor was reprimanded. Now, some people feel ESPN is not doing enough. Yesterday, White House Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, criticized Hill’s actions and said she should be fired from her job.
Hill has received a lot of support from others who feel she was being honest and expressing her personal beliefs. She apologized for her actions putting her company, ESPN, in a bad situation, which the company accepted. ESPN stated they recognized her right to free speech, but also said her approach was not at the right place or time to express her personal opinion.
