On Monday, June 26th, the White House issued a statement of warning to Bashar al-Assad, the President of Syria, citing that they have “potential” evidence that Syria is planning for another chemical weapons attack against the people of Syria.
Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, stated that the United States has identified chemical weapon attack preparations by the Assad regime which will most likely cause the deaths of many civilians and children in Syria.
Spicer also stated that the preparations are reminiscent of those taken before the April 4th, 2017 attack, which killed dozens of civilians.
While Assad denied responsibility for the April 4th attack, the Syrian government is also dismissing allegations that another chemical attack is in the works. Russia, a Syrian ally, has also dismissed the White House’s statement.
