An Australian woman was shot and killed by police officers after calling 911 to report a possible crime happening near her home in Minneapolis.
At 11:30pm on Saturday, July 15th, 40-year-old Justine Damond heard a noise outside her home. She was concerned someone was being assaulted. After calling 911, 2 officers responded to the call where they then shot and killed Damond.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is currently conducting an investigation, however the officers did not have their body cameras turned on, so there are no recordings of the incident. The 2 officers are now on paid administrative leave.
This shooting takes place 1 year after a Minnesota officer shot and killed Philando Castile during a routine traffic stop, and was later found not guilty.
